An October Field, Mixed media intaglio, 24 x 18, by Cathy Jean Clark
I received a BFA in Drawing and Prints from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire and an MFA in Printmaking from University of Wisconsin Milwaukee where I focused on etching.
Printmaking is a fascinating medium which is dear to me. I love the physicality of etching and reworking the plate. Today my prints are a combination of etching, chine collι, litho, drawing and machine stitching. I work organically and where I begin is often not anywhere near where I end. Its a wonderful journey. Often my work is focused on the garden. They are still important to many people, including myself. There seems to be many deep archetypal connections to the garden. i believe the Garden to be how we physically and spiritually connect to the earth. it is our psychic umbilical cord to our planet. Through my work i hope to express some of the magical, mystical moments I have experienced living here. I feel a very powerful connection to nature and I hope my viewers can see and feel this connection.
