WVA members have so much to be proud of

WVA State President’s report

by Christine Style, Vice-President / Acting President

WVA members have so much to be proud of and I thank you all for that you do: making art, networking with other artists, showing and selling your work, and sharing experiences and processes with others. Welcome to the WVA State board, RaeAnn Blom the new NE Chapter Chair and Tori Tasch, from the SE Chapter, the new WVA State Secretary. The Chapter Chairs/Representatives and Gary Gresl met with Robert Ragir (shown at right) in June to thank him in person and hear his thoughts on the WVA Endowment, now that we are at the point where we can start using the funds that he and the Meyer and Norma Ragir Foundation have helped us grow through Challenge Grants. It is very exciting and you’ll hear more about this in the months to come. Thank you! Please enter these WVA sponsored exhibits (www.wisconsinvisualartists.com/entry): The entry deadline for ‘Contemporary Views’ is August 30 and the UW-Green Bay, Lawton Gallery exhibit opens October 8 (4:30-6:30pm reception) through October 29. THEN next, there is the ‘Wisconsin Artists Biennial 2016,’ our MAJOR WVA organized exhibit that will be at MOWA. Deadline for the Biennial is November 22. For both of these exhibits we are using WVA’s own online entry system developed by Doug Haynes (SC). I hope you enter and encourage other Wisconsin artists to enter too. If you have ideas about things WVA should do, please send them to me.
