WVA State President's Report
The reception for the show will be Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016 at MOWA, from 1:00-5:00pm. There will be a panel discussion with various short presentations about the ‘State of Wisconsin Visual Arts’ from 1:30-2:30 and the Awards presentation at 3:00pm. I hope to see you all in West Bend!
Also on Feb. 6, the WVA State Board will be meeting from 11:00am-1:00pm at a location TBD. Everyone is welcome and we appreciate fresh input.
Virgi Driscoll and her SE leadership team have met a number of times and have presented a 5-year plan for WVA to keep evolving and growing. Some of these initiative include; 1) ways of expanding statewide participation; 2) to continue and develop more programs that energize members; 3) to discuss and possibly shift where WVA income is spent, especially since we can now begin using funds from the WVA Endowment. 4) to stabilize WVA leadership. WVA needs a paid part-time Executive Director. It has been difficult to find members willing to advance to leadership roles when most want to make art rather than organize a group. There is much to discuss and membership input is very welcome. Thank you Virgi for organizing this. Contact Virgi Driscol if you would like to join in the discussions.
I am very proud of WVA and we have a strong future. The NE, SC, and SE chapter chairs ( RaeAnne Blom, Liz Breed, and Ron Kosek) and their officers work hard to organize programs and meetings throughout the year and they and others on the state board keep an eye on the website, magazine, biennial, statewide shows and the endowment. It is important to note that the State Board has also decided to hire an accountant to finally relieve Peggy Zalucha of the bookkeeping responsibilities. Thank you Peggy, for many years of service to WVA and for your keen eye in keeping us fiscally sound.
