Claudette has been making art of some kind most of her almost 80 years. She has been active in the Wisconsin art scene since moving to Wisconsin in 1990. Serving as a Board Member of Wisconsin Visual Artists in the 90’s, a Board Member of Wisconsin Craft Council and Co-President of the Cedarburg Artists” Guild, Claudette has given time to the continuation of the arts in Wisconsin. Today, she is active in the Cedarburg Artists’ Guild, the Cedarburg Art Museum and the Cedarburg Public Library Art Committee.
In the 90’s, she managed the workshop program and teaching at the Palette Shop on Capital Drive. Her studio was in the building at 2nd and Pittsburg in Milwaukee, where she participated in the annual Art Crawl. Many know her for her painted tiles she marketed at Morning Glory Art Fair, Mt. Mary Art Fair and the Milwaukee Art Museum gift shop. A move to Cedarburg and retirement from the Palette Shop in 2000 started a new part of her career as she became active in the Cedarburg Plein Air Painting Competition, earning three Honorable Mentions. She continued teaching at the Cedarburg Cultural Center for the next ten or so years. Today, she participates in the annual Covered Bridge Studio Tour in Cedarburg and various local shows. However, her real love is in the Abstract so she returned to working abstractly in acrylic and in oil/cold wax. Work ranges from 6”x6” to 4’x5’. Her work can be seen at the Plymouth Arts Center where she is displaying 75 paintings in a solo show running from January 27 until March 17. She works in large format in Acrylics with crayon and smaller format in Oil/Cold Wax, and focuses on color, shape, composition and movement. See more at:
