Mount Horeb Area Spring Art Tour

Ceramic by Marjorie King
Twenty-one professional artists and crafters living and/or working in the Mount Horeb area - including Blue Mounds, Mazomanie, Black Earth, Verona and rural areas in between - will open their studios to
the public over three days on the first weekend in June. The tour runs June 2-4, from 10:00am-5:00pm daily. WVA members who are on this year’s tour include: Tamlyn Akins (watercolor, pastel, origami, jewelry), Peg Ginsberg (watercolor), Marjorie King (ceramics), Sue Medaris (oil, printmaking), and Jane Varda (oil, pastel). As visitors connect the dots on their map to create their own unique tour, they will also be able to explore the beauty of the springtime countryside in the unique glacially driftless area of South Central Wisconsin. This Open Art Studios event allows visitors to peek in on artists at work and demonstrating in a variety of media, including ceramics, painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, glass, wood, origami, jewelry, photography and
more! Artworks will be available for purchase. Refreshments will be served at some art studios. This is a free and family friendly event with welcoming artists - some even allowing visitors to dabble in their particular art medium. Visitors can also purchase Spring Art Tour fine art posters and note cards featuring the work of participating artists: Karen Watson- Newlin, Peggy Flora Zalucha, Tamlyn Akins, Vicki France, and S.V. (Sue) Medaris at the studio of Tamlyn Akins. All proceeds from poster and card sales benefit the MHAAA Student Art Scholarship program and future Spring Art Tour events.
In the future, the Spring Art Tour area is being expanded to a 20 mile radius around Mount Horeb, which will include the Sauk Priaire/ Prairie du Sac, West Middleton, Barneveld/Ridgeway, and New Glarus areas as well. Artists in these areas are encouraged to apply for the 2018 Tour. For more information about the tour, visit: www.SpringArtTour.com
