Paul Bobrowitz has several approaches to creating art. Sometimes clearly-defined themes or ideas come to him in a dream or through a commission and other times as a result of “noodling around” to produce surprising and whimsical sculptures and assemblages. Relationships are an ongoing theme in his work: how everything we do affects our environment and our interactions with those around us. Certain material—including found objects, such as an unusually- shaped piece of farm machinery, car parts or manufacturing discards - “call out” to Paul, “insisting they come to life as sculpture”. His style is eclectic as are the materials he uses. “Resin-Abled Wildlife”, an unusual sculpture comprised of plastics, metal, bone and wire, expresses several of the ongoing environmental messages of his work. Cutting metal shapes and bending them to form, welding, grinding, polishing, drilling, fastening and painting the metal are all processes Paul employs Rocks and glass elements have been included in his work since early in his career.
Kinetic energy and flowing water are prevalent in his pieces. Recently he has begun using human-sized concrete and stone slabs, fastening them together, and then enhancing them with metal appendages.
Paul’s sculpture garden and indoor gallery are at N93W29174 Woodchuck Way, Colgate, Wisconsin. The grounds are open 365 days a year during daylight hours. The indoor gallery is open by chance or appointment. His work is also at Monches Farms and Burger Junkies restaurant in Delafield.
