Great news about the biennial, WVAAA and the Endowment

WVA State President’s Report

by Victoria (Tori) Tasch, WVA President

Thank you for supporting Wisconsin Visual Artists. Our 2018 Wisconsin Artists Biennial generated an impressive 1,066 artworks by 386 artists. The jurors had some difficult decisions as there was a lot of compelling work. Thank you to those who entered, especially our 37 new members who joined WVA during the entry process. There will
be a panel discussion by the jurors in the last week of January, which will provide our members insight into the work of Katherine Chang Liu and Scott Zieher. Please plan to attend this wonderful opportunity in addition to the opening on February 3rd.
On View: Feb. 3–April 8, 2018 Opening Party and Awards: Sat., Feb. 3, 2018 2:00–5:00 p.m. Awards presented at 3:00 p.m.
I am the WVA Chair for the Wisconsin Visual Artists Achievement Awards for the 2017-19 term. There has been a suggestion that we improve the WVAAA by creating a more interesting, more broadly reaching and vigorous entity. The WVAAA representatives will meet soon to discuss ways to enrich, enliven and broaden the scope of the organization and ceremony. We are thankful to Gary John Gresl for his guidance and support of this mission.
Finally, as the year comes to a close please consider a donation to our Endowment Fund. Congratulations and thank you to the SC Chapter and Chapter Chair Liz Breed for raising almost $4,000! And thank you to all the chapters for your efforts. Your investment will be matched by Robert Ragir.
