Milwaukee Visual Artists Roundtable will be presenting a special event Wednesday, March 30 2005. “Art Matters! Wisconsin Views” promises an evening of interaction and exchange for visual artists. Guest speakers Terry Coffman, Artist-in-Residence at Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design will be speaking on the topic of “Marginalization of the Artists in American Culture”, and Randall Berndt and Martha Glowacki, Directors of the Watrous Gallery in Madison, will give a presentation about the Wisconsin Academy Gallery in the new Overture Center in Madison, a highly visible and extraordinary exhibition space for Wisconsin artists. This event is organized by the members of MVAR, representing numerous Milwaukee County artist organizations such as the Wisconsin Painters & Sculptors SE Chapter, The League of Milwaukee Artists, The Riverwest Artists Association, Milwaukee Artists’ Resource Network, Walker’s Point Artist Association, Wisconsin Designer Craft Council, Bay View Artists Guild, the AC Art Association, Milwaukee Area Teachers of Art and ABEA, an African American Artists’ Association. Co-sponsored by Alverno’s Art & Aesthetic Engagement Departments, the evening event will be held at Alverno’s Conference Center located at 3400 South 43rd Street in Milwaukee.
