Art Deco #1
Jean M. Judd of Cushing, Wisconsin, has been creating textile artworks for over twenty-eight years. Jean is a self-taught textile artist. All of her work is hand stitched and original designs, some using traditional quilt blocks as the foundation. Most of her art quilts made to date have been large artworks over 80x 80 with more moderate size pieces now coming into her series work.

There are over 200 textile artworks residing in homes across the US and internationally including South America, Canada, and Europe. Many of her textile artworks, home decor, and art wall hangings are in private collections, sold at auctions, as well as fundraising raffles for national charitable organizations and retirement commissions. She is juried into several fine art exhibitions every year across the United States with over 110 exhibits on her resume.

Jean's Philosophy: "Not everything in life is about speed, quantity and immediate satisfaction. I could make hundreds of pieces a year by machine quilting instead of hand quilting. It is NOT about how many pieces I can produce quickly, it is about making a quality piece with old world craftsmanship and details that are uniquely mine. Each piece is designed by me. I select the fabric to be used and I piece it all together into a one-of-a-kind, unique artwork. I am also transitioning into whole cloth pieces with my two newest series of textile artworks. Every quilt stitch is made by my two hands and a part of me resides in each piece. The designs evolve as the process develops to completion."

A large selection of her work can be viewed at www.jeanjudd.com as well as her extensive list of exhibitions and publications.
