Garden in Fall
“I work with watercolor because of the wonderful transparency of the media and the sense of light it creates. Flowers are a dominant focus, often in a wild and informal setting, and just at the very edge of disintegration. New flowers are all similar, but they age in very individual ways,
revealing each flowers uniqueness. The dark backgrounds are an important emotional element to me-symbolizing the source of life and energy the flowers have come out of, and to which they are returning. Another theme I have been exploring is the distortions and reflections that glass creates-
almost like small universes, mirroring the environment but unique and complete in themselves.”
