The Life of the Party
Susan Young Hoffman has studied painting with Chicago Imagist Philip Hanson (Ox-Bow, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s summer school of art and artists’ residency), Jeb Prazak, and Jonathan Wilde (University of Wisconsin) as well as print-making with Deborah Sproule (University of Wisconsin) and drawing with Robert Schultz (Madison College). Her work ranges from abstract art to realistic portraits. Recently she has explored photography that delivers strong elements of basic design: line, color, space, and shape.

Hoffman, a retired reading specialist living in Madison, Wisconsin, has been a docent at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art since 1990. She has served on the Wisconsin Educational Association Trust Art Selection Committee, is a member of Wisconsin Visual Artists, and is an active participant of the Northside Artists Group of Madison. She is the author and illustrator of Henry’s Birthday Week, a concept book for ages 4-7. Her pieces are held in private and public collections nationwide.
