Art is my passion. Since I was a little girl I have always been interested in creating. After retiring from teaching art I finally have the time to create full time. It is always exciting for me to see my paintings develop from my first thought, preliminary sketches and through to the final brushstroke. I begin my paintings by working out the composition through sketching or by scanning my photographs to recreate an acceptable composition. Sometimes I might use several photographs to create one that is pleasing to me. My camera is my constant companion as I never know when I might see something that I find interesting to use for a reference to paint. My favorite subjects to paint are still lifes and flowers but I find found objects such as withered fallen leaves and dried gourds very intriguing and interesting to paint.

Although I create in all media, watercolor is usually my choice of medium. I also enjoy drawing in conte and graphite pencils. A few of my favorite watercolor artists are J. M. W. Turner, Edward Hopper, Winslow Homer, and Joseph Raffael. I find studying old masters is very beneficial. Every painting I do is a new exciting learning experience. I mostly use watercolor 140 lb. cold press paper but occasionally use 300 lb. Cold press, 140 lb and 300 lb hot press. My paintings are realistic with intricate detail. By using a very limited palette I can obtain harmony in my paintings while still achieving unlimited color schemes.

I feel very blessed to have a talent and want to share it. I hope my passion for painting is reflected in my artwork and the viewer can see it in my artwork and enjoy them. I want the viewer to be able to see the subtle nuances in my paintings as well as the obvious.

I have received numerous awards for my artwork and have been in local as well as international exhibits. I belong to Wisconsin Visual Artists, Wisconsin Watercolor Society, A/C Art Association, West Allis Art Association (lifetime member), Milwaukee Sketch Club, St. Johns Art Group, Milwaukee Artists Resource Network, League of Milwaukee Artists, Watercolor Honor Society, Philadelphia Water Color Society (signature member), National Watercolor Society, California Watercolor Association and Transparent Watercolor Society (lifetime member).
