I have been creating paintings and drawings in oil, acrylic, pencil, and colored pencil on an intimate scale for many years. Employing a luscious palette of colors with brush work that appeals to the senses to create an image of a person, an animal, still life, or landscape while evoking a certain mood is an artistic process which thrills me each and every time I do it.
After earning a BFA in Painting at Boston University and an MFA in Painting at American University, I went on to careers in fine arts, teaching, and graphic arts. As a fine artist I received a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board and won awards in juried exhibitions. In 2008 I received an Honorable Mention and in 2009 I was awarded a second place in the category of Painting at the 89th and 90th Annual Madison Art Guild Exhibitions respectively. I was invited to participate in the Hospice Mask-er-Aid as well as other local exhibitions in Madison. In addition to producing commissioned and personal oil paintings, I have worked as a courtroom artist for television stations in the Twin Cities and have produced a variety of pieces for small businesses as a freelance artist. Currently I am a member of Madison Art Guild as well as Wisconsin Visual Artists (formerly Wisconsin Painters and Sculptors).
I welcome commissions for portraits and may be reached by calling 608-288-8015 or e-mailing vnikiforov2001@yahoo.com. When e-mailing please use "Portrait Commission Inquiry" in the subject line.
