2 DAY CLASS

In this course, we will explore basic lampworking, including hollow tube and solid rod techniques. We will first review basic lampworking skills such as pulling points, fire cutting, scoring, and rotation skills. Using solid rod, we will create marbles, pendants, earrings and other jewelry forms. With the hollow tubing, we will construct small ornaments, perfume bottles, and small vessels. We will further dive into the intricacies of gold and silver fuming which allows us to create iridescent colors. We will also learn to use opal, metal, and dichroic glass as inclusion elements that can add increased luminescence to our creations.
This class is ideal for those who have some lampworking experience. Individuals with beading, welding, or other torch work will be a good fit for this class. Glass shop safety will be reviewed in this course, we will emphasize proper eyewear, clothing, and sound practices to ensure a safe and positive environment. Over the course of this two-day class, students will not only be able to create pieces of their choice, they will also learn techniques to further facilitate their glass creations after the course is complete.
