"The Gleaner" was previously in the 2015 "Birds in Art" exhibition at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, Wisconsin. The owl is approximately 10.5" high, 10.5" wide, and 6.5" deep. It is sitting on a dark-stained walnut base that is 2.5" high and 11" square.
The Society of Animal Artists (SAA), founded in 1960, is devoted to promoting excellence in the artistic portrayal of the creatures sharing our planet, and to the public education through art exhibitions, informative seminars, lectures and teaching demonstrations.
"The Gleaner," a Montana dendritic steatite (soapstone) owl by Clarence P. Cameron of Madison was selected for this 57th Annual Exhibition of the Society of Animal Artists at The Hiram Blauvelt Art Museum is Oradell, New Jersey. There were 396 submissions (326 2D and 70 3D) from 231 of S.A.A. members for this yearâ€™s exhibition and no artist had more than one work selected for display. The exhibition will consist of 93 2-D and 31 3-D works.
â€śThe Gleanerâ€ť has been chosen from the 57th Annual Exhibition of the Society of Animal Artists for the 2017-2018 Art and the Animal National Tour. The tour venues are:
