Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum’s 42nd annual Birds in Art exhibition. 4ft tall Woodcut "Prehistoric Adolescence" by S.V. Medaris has been selected for the 2017 exhibition.

Since 1976, the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum has organized Birds in Art annually, seeking to present the very best contemporary artistic interpretations of birds and related subject matter.

Jurors Geoff Fleming (director, Huntington Museum of Art, Huntington, West Virginia), Sam Gappmayer (director, John Michael Kohler Arts Center, Sheboygan, Wisconsin), and Emily Kapes (art collection curator, Raymond James Financial, St. Petersburg, Florida), spent a productive day reviewing 832 entries submitted by 524 artists before heading into the final round to select one work each by 94 artists.
