Lee Mothes will demonstrate his drawing process in stages, including preliminary sketching, transferring compositions to large, final paper, proper use of tools, hatching and blending grays, and working subtractively. Take these easy-to-learn techniques and apply them to a drawing of your own composition with Lee available for individualized feedback. Leave this workshop with one finished or well-under-way work of art.

Lee Mothes' work focuses on the beauty and power of ocean surf. He is fascinated by the energy of storm-driven waves, the spray, foam, movement of waves crashing and surging on the beach, and the delight of sunlight on water. He has written two books about his artwork, An Artist's Journey to Nevermore and The New Island Guidebook - A Wanderer's Guide to a Little-Known Island Nation in the Indian Ocean. In addition to workshops, Lee teaches painting and drawing to high-school students at the Renaissance School of Art in Appleton, WI.
