Professor of Art at the University of Wisconsin -Oshkosh, Paul S. Donhauser's artistic career spanned four decades.
In 1948 he immigrated to Sheboygan, Wisconsin with his mother, Lois, and brother, Ted. He attended Sheboygan High School where one of his paintings was accepted in the Milwaukee Journal Calendar and impacted his desire to become an artist. Paul received his formal art training at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee earning a BA degree in Studio Arts and Art Education, a MA at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and later his PH.D at Illinois State University.
He married Lois Killips in 1960 and they had two daughters, Stephanie and Jennifer.
He accomplished the rank of Rosebush Professor in ceramics while teaching design and ceramics at the University of Oshkosh until he retired in 2004. He exhibited at many local, regional and international art exhibitions, including the Wisconsin Designer Crafts Council and and the Wisconsin Painters & Sculptors/Artist in all Media.
Paul was the recipient of the National Endowment for the Visual Arts Fellowship, the Grand Prize at the International Ceramics Competition in Faenza, Italy and virtually every available honor in the field of ceramics.
His artwork can be found in countless private collections, Smithsonian Institute, WashingtonD.C., the Permmanent Collection of the City of Milwaukee, The Museum of Wisconsin Art, West Bend and the Prudential Plaza, Chicago, Illinois.
