The jurying process involved working with two other jurors, Rainie Crawford and Jimmy Wright, to select 180 paintings from 1326 entries. The judge of $40,000 in cash and material awards is Calvin Brown, associate curator of prints and drawings at Princeton University Art Museum.
The accepted works came from Belgium, Canada, China, Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Japan, New Zealand, Spain, Taiwan, and the United States.
Since 1972, the PSA Annual Exhibition: Enduring Brilliance! has been held during the month of September in the Grand Gallery of the National Arts Club, a historic mansion located on Gramercy Park, in Manhattan. This will be the 46th annual show. The society's annual exhibitions are the premier event for pastel artists worldwide.
Also, Ms. Smith will be honored with the designation of "Master Pastelist" of the PSA, recognizing the record of her awards and exhibitions with the society.
Ms. Smith will attend the opening of the exhibit on September 21st and will receive her recognition at the awards dinner on September 23rd.
